If God wants us to believe in Him, why not schedule a televised interview?

If God is more than willing to reveal His awesome power, and He wants many obedient followers, why not just use our modern mass media. A live televised interview would convert millions. Why hasn't God signed up, was He more willing to travel about Earth in the olden days before video cameras? If so, why?
